The Lost Election

John McCain was brilliant in selecting Sarah Palin as his running mate. The bold move sparked new interest in his dying campaign. Then his own campaign threw water into the kindling, dousing the tiny flame. John McCain's campaign threw Sarah Palin into the Couric den. She barely made it out of there with some scratches. Not satisfied they threw her back in there again for a second time. Then president George W. Bush, listening to his secretary Paulson issued his dire statement, "We must act now or else catastrophic consquences will happen to our fragile economy. . ." (and I paraphrase). John McCain's knee jerk reaction: "Stop the campaign. I must go to Washington to bail this country out!" Great concern but wrong response. The financial snowball that president Bush threw became a huge snowball rolling straight downhill on John McCain's campaign bowling lane. Strike! not a pin was left standing.

Listening to the post-election Republican analyst's take on what happened, I agree that while Senator McCain's life story was compelling and a good story at that - it did not resonate with this day's voting crowd. What resonated was the mantra of Barack Hussein Obama: "Hope and Change," "Change and Hope," "Change, Change, Change". I didn't, wouldn't, and couldn't vote for Obama. Why would I vote for an empty suit? I remained deaf to his platitudinous orations - in fact, after a while Obama's purported "speaking eloquence" sounded like TV raster white noise.

Now that John McCain has lost the election, now that the Democrats have total control of government, I worry. I feel less secure. With Obama, Reid, and Pelosi at the helm our ship of state drifts. . . listing to port.

John McCain Does Not Get My Vote

John McCain is a hero. Granted. John McCain is an esteemed Senator. Granted. But by whom? The Democrats - that's who. Just ask Ted Kennedy. Why, McCain dreamed up this amnesty bill for giving illegal aliens a path to citizenship and he is mighty proud of it too. "Si se puede Senador Juan McCain!" Truly he has a good heart, but his heart is someplace else, not America. Perhaps he suffers from nightmares from his captivity and feels that people must "come out from the shadows". Well, Senator John McCain, I love my country too. I served in the military just like you have. But I follow the rule of law. No amnesty for illegal aliens Sir!

John McCain voted against making Bush's tax cuts permanent. Why? Is John McCain loco? And now the media are all over him, promoting him, endorsing him. Even Bob Novak wrote how John McCain resurrected from the dead. God help us. A zombie walketh among us. And Ann Coulter hits the nail on the head. John McCain is just another Bob Dole. I am not voting for John McCain.

John McCain gets this silly notion that to fight a guerrilla terrorist war you have to make nice with the enemy combatants and not torture them for information. How do you define torture? How do you get information from a terrorist ready to kill you at any time? Go figure.

Then there is this McCain Feingold idea. I really don't care to go on. Bottom line is, Senator John McCain may be for the Iraq War and all that but he falls short when it comes to other more important issues that face our nation today. I am not voting for Senator John McCain. I am not wasting my vote!

The problem with politicians

In a news piece about ICE raiding Fresh Del Monte and arresting about 165 illegal aliens, an unhappy Mayor of Portland Tom Potter is quoted as saying, "I am angered by this morning's arrest by federal officers of approximately 150 Portland residents who were working at a local produce company. I certainly understand why federal officials executed criminal warrants against three individuals who stole and sold Social Security numbers. But to go after local workers who are here to support their families while filling the demands of local businesses for their labor is bad policy."

It is politicians like Mayor Tom Potter that encourage businesses hiring illegal aliens all for the sake of appearing to be "caring" and being an advocate for social justice. Social justice for what? The hiring of illegals? What is America supposed to do? Allow this unabated influx of illegal aliens to come to this country because they want to support their families or because they are only looking for a better life? What kind of justice is this? May I suggest to Mayor Tom Potter of Portland that it would be better for him to support the employment of American citizens for a just wage rather than to be promoting the hiring of illegal aliens who steal social security numbers and use fake green cards by speaking out against the ICE process. He ought to be on the forefront insisting that businesses like Fresh Del Monte employ American workers.

But like many Liberals who hate America, Mayor Tom Potter seeks only to remain in office by pandering to the illegal aliens. Cheap labor is so addictive and many politicians and American businesses are hooked on it. Pity the poor American wage earner being branded as not wanting to do the jobs these illegals are doing.

A View from the bottom of the pile

Each time I think I am getting somewhere I suddenly realize I am getting nowhere. I remember going to kindergarten school being taught English by the missionary nuns who ran our school. They said, "Someday, you will need to know how to speak English in order to make it. You will go far." Well, I learned to speak English but didn't go very far. Look at what is happening today. English speaking people with their gangsta rap, hip hop, slang and ebonics are a dime a dozen. They are relegated to the back of the line - if that. But Spanish speaking people? They are all the rage. They are the nation's future. They are the voting block that will ensure the Liberal Democrats remain in power. "Push 2 for English," will be a thing of the past. The system will just give you an "Hola Gringo. Que?"

Spanish speaking peoples in America today give birth to the most babies, never mind that it is mostly out of wedlock ("Out-of-wedlock births among Hispanic women approach 50 percent," Star Parker, Se Habla entitlement, posted April 18, 2006 in WND)... But who cares? The more of them the better for the economy. Cheap labor, you know the drill. The government caters to them. In fact the government is willing to keep the borders open so that they can come in in droves. Why not? That's cheap labor and easy money. With their phony social security numbers they can work and they do pay into the system but can't recoup. So the fat politicos have more money to spend by letting these "people in the shadows" keep on coming and working.

The future looks bleak from the bottom of the pile. I see a subculture that is growing like gangbusters in society's petri dish of inequality. We are creating a monster and it won't understand English much less speak it. What will happen to the typical blue collar American? He or she will disappear and fade into obscurity. The country will be run by Hispanic voters and Hispanic peoples. That means that we can look forward to becoming a third world country... much like Mexico maybe?

Not Buying It

Listening to President George W. Bush exhort Congress to pick up the "amnesty for illegal aliens bill" tug-of-war line and pull for his Amnesty Side is not convincing at all. He sticks to his terms, for example, the word "comprehensive". It sounds like this man is obsessed. He disparages those who insist on taking and addressing this complex issue in phases or stages by first, securing the border, second, enforcing the laws, third, deporting criminal illegal aliens, fourth, addressing the guest worker and on and on. What President Bush wants to pull is a blitz of some kind, don't worry about the details, and let the chips fall where they may as long as everything is in favor of the illegal aliens.

As an American citizen I am not buying Mr. Bush's "comprehensive" whatever. He has no credibility when it comes to immigration issues. Mr. George Bush doesn't care about the security of our borders. He has failed to uphold his responsibility. He has betrayed my trust in him. I am so embarrassed for having voted for him twice.
